Paintings from a Private Collection
Collectors and collections come in all shapes and sizes:
some are very focussed on perhaps one or two artists or specific movements; others concentrate on pictures they love
from a wide circle of artists. This collection is the latter, a group of paintings that the owners fell in love with, bought with advice from a number of galleries, adding up to a selection of some of the best work available in the 1980s onwards. There are a few contemporary painters, bought in depth such as James Fullarton, John Houston and Christine McArthur; and alongside them some earlier works by painters such as Beatrice How and James Watterston Herald, often bought at The Fine Art Society’s original gallery in Edinburgh.
