Marion Brandis

Marion Brandis has specialised in one-off architectural commissions, such as floor and wall mosaics, tile panels, fireplaces, fountains and garden fitments. Resulting pieces are often a dialogue between the client, the proposed environment and herself. Recent commissions include work for Brighton Borough Council, Bristol City Council, Gloucester Royal Hospital, Hong Kong Telecom, Sainsburys, Kent County Council and Crawley Borough Council.

“I love making work that is accessible to the general public, both in content and location. My bespoke mosaics and ceramics are usually colourful and uplifting, and I have enjoyed working in quite difficult locations, particularly in hospitals. In my opinion the key to a successful commission is good consultation. I try to include people in the whole process of creating a work of art as much as possible. A lot of commissions have involved community groups in various ways, in the form of consultation sessions, presentations and workshops”
