I don’t think we’ve ever had a more coherent display of contemporary Scottish painting than our current exhibitions.
Our second floor gallery has a group of paintings by Duncan Shanks which has proved very popular and successful over the summer months. I suppose that Duncan is one of the ‘grand old men’ of Scottish painting – certainly, along with the late George Devlin who is on show on the first floor, he taught most of the painters we are currently showing.
Jock MacInnes follows them on the stairs and first floor, and James McNaught and Mhairi McGregor are on the ground floor. Elsewhere you can see David Donaldson, Sandy Goudie, Mary Armour, Frances Macdonald, Carlo Rossi and several others. Not forgetting our selection of Postcards which forms a permanent ‘database’ of all that is great about contemporary painting in Scotland.
