The old saying ‘I’ve waited half an hour for a number 23 bus and then four come at once’ is true in the gallery world too. In the first week  since re-opening after Lockdown we have taken in three superb paintings by Michael Scott from the 1990s and three still lifes by Mary Armour that I remember selling in the 1980s. All the work of an artist at the top of their game.

Alongside a rehang, these six pictures have transformed the gallery – with Andrew Thompson’s solo show centre stage on the ground floor, backed up by a room of works by Peter Howson and Stephen Conroy.
