From the Isle of SkyeRuth Nicol

Ruth Nicol continues her exploration into landscape and identity. Returning to the “Misty” Isle of Skye, she wanted to capture the raw energy of the prehistoric landscape, in particular the An Cuiltheann (the Cuillin Mountains) which have provided so much inspiration for past work.
The many and varied weather conditions cast the isle, already steeped in mythology, with a particular majesty. Rolling weather fronts contribute greatly to Ruth’s painting process, building atmosphere and manipulating the paint to reveal a personalised impression of a landscape.
